Rockabilly Revival

I am completely obsessed with Quentin Tarantino's films. I was able to watch Django Unchained at the cinema a little while ago and it totally exceeded my expectations!!! So the other day I stumbled across the very first movie Tarantino ever made. It is called My Best Friend's Birthday and it is only half a movie because the second half was lost in a fire. But it is still classic Tarantino, and personally I thought it was pretty fantastic. It's super raw and resembles a shitty home video from the 1980's (kind of like the home movies I have from when I was a kid, haha). I still can't help loving it though! Tarantino is just the maestro of cool. So I guess I'm sort of addicted to anything Rockabilly right now.

What have you watched recently that has stuck in your mind?? Or any all time favourites?? :)

Silent Night

The night is silent,
It steals my screams,
It makes me nervous,
It hates my dreams

Strawberry Fields Forever

Lately I have been feeling so disconnected from reality. I feel like I'm floating around in my own little world, in some impenetrable bubble. I don't know if this is the flu medication talking, or hours lost in research for my dissertation, but I just feel oddly unsettled by the realization that it is March already. It seems as if this year has been passing by in a haze. I do like being in my own world though, day dreaming, pretending I'm someone else, somewhere else. I've been listening to Asaf Avidan and the Mojos lately in my car during the long drive to university and their music can really transport you to another realm :) I think we get tied down to our 'identities', and it's nice to escape sometimes. Maybe this is why I love Alice in Wonderland so much - sometimes I wish I was the one falling down that rabbit hole.

Anyway, I'm rambling, as I do sometimes, haha. What do you think of the outfit and pictures?? :) What music do you listen to when you want to escape?? :)

Pawn Shop Blues

So I'm officially getting sick, which really sucks. I really hate the flu. My sister is even sicker than I am so I'm pretty sure I got it from her. All I want to do is lie in bed and watch movies but alas my crazy life demands otherwise...sigh...But anyway, enough complaining! The sun is shining and I am going to appreciate every moment of it until the Winter really arrives. It's SUPER windy though, but I am kind of used to it, living in the (other) Windy City and all.

So what do you guys think of this new look?? I tried to get a little bit creative with Photoshop :) Plus I named the post after a Lana Del Rey song because I am just a tiny bit obsessed with her. Thoughts?? Anything you would like to see on the blog?? :)

Oh, and the DIY post is coming soon, I promise! :)

P. S.: I recently joined Formspring if you have any questions you would like to ask me :)

What the Water Gave Me

Today was just one of those days. You know?? When you don't really have that much to complain about but you just feel sort of shitty?? I feel like that today. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I haven't really been outside the house and have been stuck behind my computer screen all day. It can get kind of depressing and lonely. Especially when you are stressing about the amount of research you have to do and all the other little worries that creep into your mind on days like these. I just try to drink as much tea as possible. Because tea makes everything better.

What do you do to get through days like this??
